How to pay your student housing fees
You can make a payment toward your student housing fees through the Student Housing Portal or in person at Cedar Centre.
Visit the Student Housing Portal to view your residence fees under the My Fees tab. On the My Fees tab, you can view and pay your student housing fees.
We take Visa, Visa Debit, Mastercard and Mastercard Debit - both in person and on the portal. We do not take cash, wire transfer, e-transfer or internet banking bill payments.

New tower options will be available in fall 2027. Until then, all student types (new and returning) will be accepted in all available housing.
Student Housing fees vary by student housing area and room type. All fees are subject to the terms and conditions outlined in the Student Housing Agreement. Rates may be subject to change without notice.

Single semesters are prorated with an additional $10 fee.
Payment plans
Pre-pay plan
$500 deposit due at time of room confirmation.
The remaining balance is due August 1
Split payments option
$500 deposit due at time of room confirmation.
Pay half of the year’s fee by September 15 and the remaining balance January 15 for an extra $100 per semester.
Single semester option
$500 deposit due at time of room confirmation.
Balance due August 1 for Fall semester and December 1 for Spring semester.
If you apply after due date, fees are due prior to arrival.

Additional services
All You Care to Eat, Seven Days a Week
All rooms in our new building include a meal plan called All You Care to Eat, Seven Days a Week. Anyone living in student housing can purchase this plan for a single payment of $6000.
Food Funds
Food funds is a flexible option in which you can load funds onto your student card and buy meals and snacks at any VIU cafeteria.
Linen package
The linen package includes:
- 1 foam pillow
- 2 pillow slips
- 2 flat sheets
- 2 fitted sheets
- 1 bathmat
- 2 bath towels
- 2 hand towels
- 2 face cloths
- 1 fiber fill comforter

Early move-in for Trades students
For Trades programs that begin on August 25, there is early move-in on August 24, 2026 (applicable to Academic Year and Fall move-ins).
Want to move in early or move out late?
To move in early or move out late, you must make a formal request to VIU Student Housing billed at $30 per night.
Important notes
- Failure to pay any student housing fees by any posted or emailed deadline will result in the forfeiture of your room assignment.
- Charges will continue until all assigned keys are returned to the front desk. Cancellations and early-move outs are subject to the cancellation charges outlined in the Student Housing Agreement.
